The Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice is for an outstanding contribution to the biomedical literature that describes an innovation in pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems.
The award will be given annually to the author(s) of the most noteworthy contribution to the literature describing an innovative pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems published during the calendar year preceding the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting at which the award is presented. This award recognizes articles, other than scientific research, that contribute significantly to the betterment of the profession and describe innovations in hospital and health-system pharmacy practice that have applications beyond the practice site in which they were developed.
Description of Award
This award consists of a $4,000 honorarium, a $1,000 expense allowance to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting for the award presentation, and a plaque.
Eligibility
ArticleFor this award, pharmacy practice refers to all aspects of professional practice in hospitals and health systems, including administrative, managerial, drug use control, technological services, clinical services, information processing, and new practice models. Contributions to the literature eligible for the award may include published materials appearing in the primary literature or books (electronic or print) that are widely available.
Author
At the time of the completion of the work described in the article, the nominated author (or, in the case of multiple authorship, at least one of the authors who shall have had a primary role in the literature contribution) shall be a pharmacist.
