Student Research Award

The Student Research Award is presented annually to a pharmacy student for a published or an unpublished paper or report of a completed research project related to pharmacy practice in a hospitals and health systems.

Description of Award
The Student Research Award consists of a $1,500 honorarium, a $1,000 expense allowance to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, and a plaque.

Eligibility

The research should be completed and the paper prepared before June 1 of the year preceding the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting at which the Award is to be presented.  The student should be the primary author of the nominated paper.  The text should reveal (or it should be obvious) that it was derived from, or is relevant to, pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems or should reflect a philosophy applicable to pharmacy practice in those settings.

The paper or report should be in publishable format (see “Procedures for submission of manuscripts to journals published by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists” in the January issue of the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy for an example of appropriate format). 

Author
At the time of preparation of the paper or report, the author shall have been a full-time student enrolled in an entry-level degree program in an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.  The nomination should be accompanied by a letter from a faculty member certifying that the nominated paper is primarily the student's work.

A selection panel will select the highest quality paper that is most pertinent to pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems. Click on the link below for the names of selection panel members:

The following criteria and point values will be used:

• Originality - 20 points
• Significance - 15 points
• Research Methodology - 25 points
• Data Analysis - 25 points
• Validity of Conclusions - 15 points
• Total 100 points
