Patient Safety Awareness Week Radio Interviews

2013
In March 2013, the ASHP Foundation conducted a radio media tour featuring Allison Paquin, Pharm.D., a clinical pharmacist from VA Boston Healthcare System in Massachusetts. The VA Boston Healthcare System is the 2012 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety for its initiative "The PILL Service," which assisted elderly veterans with cognitive difficulties in taking their medications accurately and safely. During the radio media tour, Dr. Paquin spoke about how family caregivers can help their own elderly loved ones with dementia and other cognitive issues to do the same. In March 2012, the ASHP Foundation conducted a radio media tour featuring Anne Rose, Pharm.D., a clinical pharmacist from UW Health in Madison, Wis. UW Health is the 2011 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety for its initiative "Anticoagulation Stewardship Program." Dr. Rose spoke about blood clot prevention. In March 2011, the ASHP Foundation conducted a radio media tour featuring Nicole Pilch, Pharm.D., a clinical specialist from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. MUSC was the 2010 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety. In March 2010, the ASHP Foundation conducted a radio media tour featuring Kelly Michienzi, Pharm.D., a clinical pharmacist from Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo in New York. WCHOB was the 2009 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety.     In February 2008, the ASHP Foundation conducted a radio media tour featuring Scott Micek, Pharm.D., a clinical pharmacist whose initiative to more quickly identify and treat sepsis at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis won that institution the 2007 Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety.
