The purpose of the Preceptor Award is to recognize a pharmacy residency preceptor who has excelled in the training of pharmacy residents. By recognizing these preceptors, they can serve as role models for others in pharmacy residency training.

Award applicants should display the following qualities:

1. A sustained record of significant contributions to residency training in the role of preceptor and mentor
2. Leadership qualities
3. Well-respected by peers
4. Innovation
5. Demonstrated leadership in his or her own pharmacy practice
6. Active participation in education, research and service on the community and organizational level
7. Evidence of instilling these qualities in their residents
8. A track record of having a positive influence on the future careers of pharmacy residents.

The award recipient will be expected to present a summary of his or her teaching philosophy, methods and sustained contributions to residency training in written and in oral form.
