This training tool was developed by the ASHP Foundation to help health care professional students, new practitioners or experienced practitioners learn the basics they need to work within the medication-use system and be confident in their ability to ensure patient and medication safety. It challenges pharmacists, physicians and nurses to develop logical and safe thought processes in the execution of their responsibilities in the medication-use system while also exposing them to other colleagues' roles in the process.
Available on CD-ROM or as an online training method, this is a convenient way to prepare students for clinical rotations, orient new practitioners to the medication-use process or offer staff training required for JCAHO accreditation.
