Supported by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the ASHP Foundation; administered by the ASHP Foundation
Proposals are no longer being accepted for this grant program. The recipient of the grant will be announced by late May 2008.

Background
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the ASHP Research and Education Foundation are interested in an assessment of the current evidence of the value of pharmacist-provided patient care services in the United States, particularly as that evidence applies to the interests and perspectives of the following stakeholders:

1. Health policy makers.
2. Third-party payers.
3. Executives in health care provider organizations.
4. Pharmacy practice leaders.

The ASHP Foundation is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Evidence Report, developed through a systematic review of the literature, relating to the impact of pharmacist-provided patient care on health-related outcomes in the United States. For the purposes of this RFP, health-related outcomes include therapeutic, safety, humanistic and economic outcomes.

This systematic review should be based on a rigorous comprehensive synthesis and analysis of the relevant scientific literature. The methods for this systematic review should emphasize the importance of a rigorous and transparent evaluation of empirical evidence of the impact of pharmacist-provided care on health-related outcomes.

Review Teams
Organizations that respond to this RFP must demonstrate that the Evidence Report will be developed by a team of individuals with significant expertise in conducting systematic reviews of the biomedical literature. The use of a multidisciplinary review team is strongly encouraged. Respondents are required to address provision of a rigorous and transparent evidence report, technical report, manuscript and supporting database.

Funding Information
A $65,000 grant will be awarded for development of this Evidence Report. Fifty (50) percent of the total grant will be provided upon execution of the award letter, and the remaining fifty (50) percent will be provided upon receipt of the final Evidence Report.
