University of Florida: M.S. in Pharmacy

The University of Florida College of Pharmacy offers Academy students the opportunity to earn 6 graduate credits toward the 30 credit hour UF online Master of Science in Pharmacy degree with a focus on Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy. Students may select from six tracks in the M.S.Pharm. program and may also pursue a concurrent MBA with a partner university. Academy students interested in this opportunity must apply to UF before beginning the Academy curriculum.

To apply for admission to the UF Online Master of Science in Pharmacy (M.S.Pharm.) Program, visit http://www.onlinepop.pharmacy.ufl.edu/admissions. Admissions standards require a GPA of 3.0 and a combined GRE score of 300. Applicants with a master’s degree or a Pharm.D. and a 3.0 GPA may be exempted from the GRE requirement.

Academy students completing all modules may earn up to 6 UF graduate credits toward the 30-credit UF online M.S.Pharm. Tuition for the 6 credits (2 classes) is waived for Academy students, while tuition for the remaining 24 credits is at the regular UF tuition rate. Student fees of approximately $35 per credit hour must be paid for all coursework.

Students in the program work with faculty advisors to develop an individualized plan of study focusing on an area of interest to the student, such as managed care pharmacy systems, applied pharmacoeconomics, patient safety in medication use, or pharmaceutical regulation.

A typical plan of study for the Institutional Pharmacy Leadership track is laid out below, although other variations exist which may shorten the length of the degree program. Plan of Study for other tracks will vary:

First Year Fall
• Introduction to Institutional Pharmacy Leadership I (3 credits)
Completed though participation in Pharmacy Leadership Academy
Must be admitted to UF as graduate student

First Year Spring
• Introduction to Institutional Pharmacy Leadership II (3 credits)
Completed though participation in Pharmacy Leadership Academy
Must be admitted to UF as graduate student
(tuition waived, only fees apply)

Second Year Fall
• Session A, PHA 6273 - Structure Process and Outcomes of Regulation (3 credits, 7 weeks online)
• Seminar (1 credit weekend course in Gainesville)
• Session B, choose to take either PHA 6277 - Ethics of Drug Production, Distribution and Use or an elective (3 credits, 7 weeks online)

Second Year Spring
• Session A, elective (3 credits, 7 weeks online)
• Session B, choose to take either PHA 6277 - Ethics of Drug Production, Distribution and Use or an elective (3 credits, 7 weeks online)

Second Year Summer
• Session A, PHA 6291 – Pharmacy Health Care Systems (3 credits, 7 weeks online)
• Seminar (1 credit, online)
• Session B, choose to take either PHA 6277 - Ethics of Drug Production, Distribution and Use or an elective (3 credits, 7 weeks online)

Third Year Fall
• Elective (Session A or B) (3 credits, 7 weeks online)
• Seminar (1 credit weekend course in Gainesville)
• Comprehensive Final Exam in Gainesville
• Graduation in December
