New Fund Established to Honor Lawrence A. Trissel
The ASHP Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Lawrence A. Trissel Pharmacy Legacy Fund.
Larry Trissel was an internationally renowned pharmacist who devoted his career to advancing the safe use of injectable medicines through research, publishing, and teaching, including mentorship of student pharmacists, pharmacy residents, pharmacy research fellows, and pharmacy technicians.
His professional accomplishments and impact on pharmacy and patient care were significant and far-reaching. He published over 200 books and articles but is best known for authoring 17 editions of The Handbook on Injectable Drugs, which became universally known as “Trissel’s Handbook.”
In seeking to honor and extend his contributions to the field of pharmacy and patient care, the Trissel Fund was launched through a generous gift in Larry's memory from the Trissel family. The fund will be an endowment with earnings used to offer awards to support research on important questions relating to patient and healthcare worker safety in the use of injectable medicines. In addition, the Fund will support programs that advance pharmacy workforce training regarding leading research or compounding sterile preparations, with funding priority given to meritorious requests submitted by student pharmacists, pharmacy residents, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians within their first five years of professional practice. The ASHP Foundation will administer the Fund and make annual awards.
If you would like to support the Lawrence A. Trissel Pharmacy Legacy Fund, contributions can be made to the ASHP Foundation through the Foundation donation website. Contributions are tax-deductible.
